The beginning
In 10th grade, I fell in love with guitar. It became who I was.
Then I hurt my arm. It scared me. For months I sat on the couch, not knowing if I would ever play the same again.
I felt stuck. My plans stopped.
I had a choice: lose hope, or build something new while I healed. I picked Spanish.
The turn
I want to be honest. I was not good at it. I had no special gift for languages.
But I could show up. Day one became a streak. The streak became years.
I did not learn from one magic app. I learned from music and song lyrics. From real teachers. From being corrected, again and again. And I tracked my hours, so I could see the work adding up.
Little by little, Spanish stopped feeling like study. It became real talks with real people.
I loved the process so much that I got certified to teach English. That is when it clicked: I did not just love learning languages. I loved helping people go from confused to speaking.
Teaching became part of the mission
The English teaching path made the system clearer.
Getting certified to teach English gave me the words and structure for what I was already living as a learner: preparation, correction, confidence, repetition, and a clear path for the student.
Early teaching proof
Before the Spanish program, the teaching process was already working.
David was learning English, not Spanish. His video lives here because it shows the roots of the system Language Monk now applies to Spanish: clear planning, correction, confidence, consistency, and a real path forward.
“Language Monk helped me build a clear and detailed study plan for English. Now I understand what to study each day, and I feel more confident speaking and improving step by step toward fluency.”
The language changed. The system became sharper. But the core stayed the same: help real people speak with more confidence through structure, correction, and consistency.
Here is the truth
If I could do this, you can too.
I started from zero, on a couch, with a hurt arm. You get to start with a teacher, a coach, and a plan.
Start Your Spanish PlanThen life tested me again. I tore my left bicep hanging drywall.
Drywall taught me to work hard. But it also taught me a scary truth: when your body is your whole plan, one injury can take it all.
So I built Language Monk. The same loop that worked for me — music, teachers, correction, practice, and honest tracking — is now the path we use with serious Spanish learners.
Why Language Monk exists
Maybe you have tried apps. Books. Videos. Random lessons. And you still freeze when it is time to speak. I built this for you.
Here is how it works. Teachers run your lessons, correct you, and give you practice steps. Coaches help you get set up, check in on you, and plan your next move. You never guess alone.
The heart of it is simple: do small things right, get corrected, keep count, and keep showing up. That is how Spanish gets real. No hype. No magic.
My injuries taught me not to wait for a perfect moment. If you are waiting for a sign that a normal person can learn Spanish — this is it.
